2023 marked the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration represented a vision for a just and equal world, although not consistently implemented in reality, it inspired many advances. This includes the human right to health, with its significant impact on global health, such as the worldwide expansion of HIV treatment, the fight against female genital mutilation and the reduction of neglected tropical diseases, to name but a few. But these achievements are increasingly under threat.
