FAIRMED - previously known as Leprosy Relief Emmaus Switzerland - is the development organization that has been working since 1959 to ensure that even the poorest people in Africa and Asia have access to basic medical care. Our aim is to prevent people from suffering or dying from a curable disease. We work exclusively with local staff in our country offices in Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Cameroon and the Central African Republic. Our projects are designed in such a way that the structures remain in place even after our active role. We involve the local people in the design of the projects right from the start. We also work with partner organizations, governments, health authorities and volunteers throughout.
