Medicus Mundi Switzerland The colonial origins of development cooperation still shape its thinking, structure, and practice today. While many organisations have long described their work not as "aid" but as equal cooperation with partners in the global South, the working practice is still too often based on power structures that entrench dependencies and prevent the development of local resources.
The intensifying decolonisation debate reveals this. Meanwhile, there are various projects that are redesigning international cooperation against this background. Based on such examples, the MMS Round Table will identify ways in which international health cooperation can leave its colonial structures behind.
